What’s with the Hoopla, Hoopla?

I try not to get myself involved in these sort of cross-blog discussions, but today there was one posted that really struck a cord with me.

Today Traffic Hoopla posted on their blog essentially saying that Social Media is all hype and doesn’t deliver, you can read the original post here.

Just some background for those who don’t know, Traffic Hoopla is a website founded in 2003 that rates Traffic Exchanges based on.. well.. to be honest they are a little vague on WHAT they are measuring, but they are measuring it some how using a tracker they ask people to install into their sites, and then they rate them and allow you to build a down line.  This is a numbers company, and it is what it is.

Their blog post, in summary, said that their “measurements of data” (what data? what measurements? where can I see this data?) shows that Engaging in social is NOT effective, and is a total waste of time.

As Louise Venison would say, YOU’RE DOING IT ALL WRONG! […]
