New Facebook Image Size Guide for March 2015

Facebook has recently rolled out it’s latest batch of updates, which of course means new optimized image sizes for your feed items.

So today I’ll be sharing with you the unofficial Guide to Facebook’s news feed image sizes, released by Gain, which you can view here.

Photo Posts
Facebook no longer crops photos, instead it resizes them.  The maximum photo height is 394px and with of 470px.  Facebook will resize a photo until the largest dimension fits the maximum space – filling the rest with white space.

Photo Posts – 470px x 394px

Link Posts
Unlike photo posts, Images in links WILL be cropped.

Link Images – 246px x 470px  OR 90px x 90px
Link Images smaller than 154×154 will be reduced to 90×90

Profile Images

Page profile pictures are square and display at 160×160 pixels on your Page. The photo you upload must be at least 180×180 pixels. We recommend uploading a square image. Rectangular images will be cropped to fit a square. Your Page’s profile picture will also display next to your Page’s name around Facebook to represent your Page.

You can be creative with how your Page’s profile picture and cover photo go together. On your Page, the profile picture is located 23 pixels from the left side of your cover photo and 210 pixels from the top of your cover photo.

Cover photos are 851 pixels wide and 315 pixels tall. If you upload an image that’s smaller than these dimensions, it will be stretched to this larger size. The image you upload must be at least 399 pixels wide and 150 pixels tall.

To get the fastest load times for your Page, upload an sRGB JPG file that’s 851 pixels wide, 315 pixels tall and less than 100 kilobytes. For images with your logo or text, you may get a higher quality result by using a PNG file.
Cover Photo – 851×315
Profile Photo –  168×168

Group photos are cropped to 784px x 250px
Group Cover – 801×250

Event Photo

Event photos are cropped to 784px x 295px.  The image is centered in a preview in the notifications at a size of 100px x 100px

Event Photo – 784×295
Event Photo Preview  – 100×100

The pages are subject to change soon, however currently they follow the same sizing guidelines as the regular profile

Cover Photo – 851×315
Profile Photo –  168×168
Photo Posts – 470px x 394px
Link Images – 246px x 470px  OR 90px x 90px
Link Images smaller than 154×154 will be reduced to 90×90

Hope that helps, thanks for stopping by…

Dan Aiello

Dan Aiello Reports

On Wednesday, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints became the first religious organization to be fined for political malfeasance, according to Californians Against Hate (CAH), the non-profit organization that filed the complaint after voters narrowly approved the anti-marriage equality initiative, proposition 8, November, 2008.

Leaders of the Mormon Church “failed to timely report making late non-monetary contributions” to the Yes on Prop 8 campaign, an amount totaling $36,928, according to the June 10, 2010 finding by California’s Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), announced at the commission’s meeting Wednesday in Sacramento. The commission’s enforcement included levying a 15% punitive fine against the LDS organization, totaling $5,539 dollars. […]
